India Sanders

is a Ph.D. student in the Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology (CCSP) department at UCSB, specializing in counseling psychology. Her research focuses on environmental injustices, with a particular interest in how marginalized communities engage in resistance and resilience.
Prior to UCSB, India earned her B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills. While there, she conducted research under Dr. Ashley Membere, examining the impact of racism on Black and Brown communities and its connection to mental health. Currently, she is working with shola shodiya-zeumault, further expanding her research and advocacy in environmental justice and mental health.
In her free time, India enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her two cats.
