Welcome to your Healing Space.

Healing Space is Kindred’s Black-centered clinical training clinic at UC Santa Barbara. Since 2020, we have offered therapy grounded in African-centered and liberation psychology, with clinicians who understand both the weight of anti-Black racism and the brilliance, resistance and joy of our communities.

Who we serve

Black and African American adults, youth, couples and families in Santa Barbara County. Children ages 2–7 are referred to UCSB’s PCIT Clinic.

What we offer

Individual, family and group therapy, including support with racial stress, identity, grief, relationships and everyday life.

Who you’ll see

Doctoral clinicians in UCSB’s counseling, clinical and school psychology program, supervised by licensed psychologists.

Cost

Free or low-cost. We ask what you can afford, and no one is turned away for inability to pay. We don’t bill insurance.

Where and when

In person at the Hosford Clinic in the Education Building on the UCSB campus, Monday through Wednesday, 3–8 p.m., during the academic year. Space depends on each year’s cohort, so at times there may be a wait, and we’ll help connect you elsewhere if needed.

Getting started
