The Kindred Collective for Healing and Liberatory Traditions is a Black-led, community-rooted initiative at UC Santa Barbara’s Gevirtz School of Education. Through Healing Space, our Black-centered clinical training clinic, and ALMA, our Spanish-language Latiné healing clinic, Kindred trains the next generation of healers in African-centered, liberation and ancestral healing traditions while providing free and low-cost therapy to Black and Latiné community members across Santa Barbara County. Beyond the clinic, Kindred builds Black joy and liberation infrastructure: community gatherings, story circles, leader and educator formation, and research that grows out of the work itself.
