Samantha Hutchinson

is pursuing her doctoral degree in School Psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara working with Dr. Erin Dowdy. Prior to moving out west, she spent the majority of her life on the east coast and obtained her B.A. in psychology at Skidmore College in New York.

As the Healing Space Outreach Coordinator, she is excited to contribute to this safe space for Black community members, students, and clinicians. She looks forward to building relationships and partnerships with local organizations and engaging in healing activities.

Her current research interests involve school-based mental health and culturally responsive social, emotional, and behavioral interventions. Samantha is also working as a Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) clinician in the Hosford Clinic and as a Project TEAMS scholar, where she collaborates across departments to research and implement evidence-based interventions to support diverse students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs.

She finds healing and restoration in art, yoga, dogs, nature walks, and cooking and baking for friends.
